Bishal Dutta: The Artiste Bringing Kathak to New Heights

Bishal Dutta, an award-winning Kathak master trained by eminent gurus, recently showcased his expertise in the groundbreaking project "The Great Indian Musical" at the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Center. 

Bishal Dutta, a distinguished Kathak practitioner, began his dance journey at nine under Shri Joydeep Guha in the Uday Shankar Dance Style. A disciple of Guru Smt. Anju Bhattacharya, he has mastered Kathak of the Lucknow Gharana and completed his Master’s in Dance (Kathak) from Rabindra Bharati University, earning a Gold Medal and two prestigious awards. Bishal, an awardee of the Nrityamani Award from Utkal Sangskriti Sangha and a senior scholar from the Ministry of Culture (2017-18), is also an ICCR-empaneled solo Kathak artist (2019). 

He has enriched his art through workshops with luminaries like Smt. Rané Khannam, Guru Shri Rajendra Ganganÿi, Padma Bhushan Pt. Birju Maharaj, Smt. Saswati Sen, and Padma Bhushan Smt. Kumudiné Lakhia. His latest projects include contributing his expertise to various prestigious platforms, showcasing his remarkable talent and passion for Kathak, and making a significant impact in the dance community. Bishal continues to inspire the next generation of dancers with his dedication and mastery of the art.
