Vishwa Mohan Bhatt, known as V. M. Bhatt, is a Grammy-winning Hindustani classical music instrumentalist, renowned for playing the Mohan veena (slide guitar). Born on July 27, 1950, in Jaipur, India, Bhatt is a disciple of Pt. Ravi Shankar, belonging to a prestigious musical lineage. His innovative fusion of the Hawaiian guitar with sitar, sarod, and veena techniques birthed the Mohan veena, earning global acclaim. Beyond his Grammy Award (1993), Bhatt received the Padma Shri (2002) and Padma Bhushan (2017). A cultural ambassador of India, he captivates audiences worldwide with his expressive and versatile slide guitar prowess. Vishwa Mohan Bhatt's extraordinary contribution to Indian classical music and his creation, the Mohan veena, showcase his unmatched virtuosity and profound impact on the global music landscape.
