Rama Vaidyanathan, an eminent Bharatanatyam artist from Delhi and director at Ganesha Natyalaya, has left an indelible mark on the global classical dance landscape. Trained under Guru Yamini Krishnamurthy and Guru Saroja Vaidyanathan, she redefines Bharatanatyam, earning accolades like the Kerala Sangeetha Nataka Akademi Award (2013) and Sangeet Natak Akademi Award (2017). Known for breaking conventions, Rama explores unconventional pieces and diverse languages, seeking profound meaning in overlooked places, challenging purists but embodying a higher artistic purpose. Integrating spirituality and abstract elements, she elevates Bharatanatyam, earning the ‘Bharath Ratna’ title from the Sri Lankan Department of Cultural Affairs in 1999.
