Pandit Sanjoy Adhikary: Sentinel of Benaras Gharana's Musical Tradition

 Pandit Sanjoy Adhikary, the venerable guardian of Benaras Gharana's musical legacy, unveils a tapestry of sonic beauty, merging ancient rhythms with vibrant innovation for an unforgettable journey.

Pandit Sanjoy Adhikary, a renowned tabla virtuoso from the lineage of Pandit Hari Charan Das ji of Varanasi and Acharya Bhagaban Das Sitari, began his musical journey under Shri Ashish Roy Chowdhury and later studied under Pandit Swapan Siva and Pandit Kumar Bose of the Benaras Gharana. He received vocal accompaniment training from Pandit Ulhas Kashalkar. Admired for his mastery in laykari, rare tehai's, and musical sound production, he earned accolades including the Taalashree Award by Patna Matriudghatan Samity in 2004 and the International Excellence Award by Pragati Bangla Utsav in 2019.

As a musician faculty at the ITC Sangeet Research Academy since 2011, he has participated in numerous prestigious events worldwide. Pandit Sanjoy Adhikary's dedication to preserving and elevating tabla's artistry resonates through his performances, leaving an indelible mark on the world of classical music.
