Kuntal Das: Sculpting the Sound of Tradition

Kuntal Das, an esteemed tabla artist, has been instrumental in shaping Indian Classical Music through his collaborations with notable musicians and his impactful teaching methods.

Kuntal Das, born into a musical family, began his tabla training at age 5 under Shri Sukesh Sarkar and continued for 16 years. He further studied with Shri Subir Mukherjee and currently trains under Pt. Subhankar Banerjee of the Farukhabad Gharana. Blessed by his Guruji from 2006 to 2017, Kuntal has undergone rigorous training and continues to refine his art. His mother, Smt. Krishna Das, has been a constant inspiration.

Kuntal's experiences include being a faculty member at Taalsen Music Academy, Nadam, and Natmandir, and a B High artist with All India Radio and the Calcutta Cine Musicians' Association. Founder of Koyental Arts, he has performed with eminent artists such as Pt. Vijay Kumar Kichlu and Vidushi Subhra Guha. Kuntal has graced stages globally, including the Royal Albert Hall, and has been featured on popular channels like Doordarshan. His performances have received critical acclaim from publications like Anandabazar Patrika and The Statesman.
