Guru Pandit Jaikishan Maharaj, an epitome of grace from the Kalka-Bindadin Gharana, began his Kathak journey at age four under his father, the legendary Padma Vibhushan Pandit Birju Maharaj, becoming his 'Ganda Bandhan' disciple. Renowned for his lightning-fast footwork, imaginative "Abhinaya," and energetic movements, Guru Pandit Jaikishan Maharaj also excels in choreography, music composition, and lyric writing. He gained acclaim for his choreography in the Hindi film "Dil to Pagal Hai" and has been honored with the Business and Entertainment Award, Bharat Icon Award, Delhi Ratna Award, and Gaurav Award.
Since 2009, he has served as a Kathak Guru at Kathak Kendra, Delhi, promoting innovations like the Left Portion (bai ang). He has written over 300 Bandishen, including Thumri, Dadra, Ghazal, and Bhajan. Guru Pandit Jaikishan Maharaj's pioneering contributions to Kathak have significantly enriched the art form, earning him widespread international acclaim.
