Ekaterina Aristova, a versatile musician proficient in double bass, bass guitar, and piano, hails from Saint-Petersburg, Russia. She embarked on her musical journey as a classical pianist before transitioning to bass instruments. Graduating from M.P. Musorgsky’s Saint-Petersburg State Music College in 2005 and Saint-Petersburg State University of Culture and Arts in 2010, she honed her skills in jazz performance and music education. Ekaterina has enriched her craft through workshops in jazz improvisation, harmony, and orchestral performance at Bayerisch Musikakademy, Germany. She has been mentored by luminaries like Barry Harris and esteemed New York bassists Ari Roland and John Webber.
Ekaterina’s career spans performances with jazz ensembles in Saint-Petersburg and Moscow, where she delved into Indian classical music under Ustad Gulfam Sabri Khan.
