I'm a firm believer that practicing gratitude is crucial, particularly for artists. It's essential to express gratitude towards those who've influenced our lives, including teachers, mentors, parents, and educators. Our artistic journey, much like a tree, aspires to reach great heights. Just like the sturdy roots that anchor a tree, gratitude serves as our foundation, grounding us. A Doordarshan graded artist, Young Artist’s Scholarship recipient, and a luminous presence on SPIC MACAY's empaneled list, she weaves an irresistible charm. Her journey, nurtured by a CCRT Scholarship, began at Natya Vriksha at 6. Guided by Padmasri Geeta Chandran, she flourished over 15 years, culminating in a splendid 2018 Arangetram. Sowmya has adorned prestigious stages like World Dance Day (IIC, New Delhi), Brahma Gana Sabha, Krishna Gana Sabha (Chennai), earning a trove of well-deserved accolades. Beyond the spotlight, Sowmya is integral to Natya Vriksha Dance Collective, gracing festivals across India. She's even shared the stage with her Guru in captivating Spic Macay lecture demonstrations nationwide. While pursuing her Master's in Sociology at Ambedkar University, New Delhi, she gracefully imparts Bharatanatyam wisdom, enriching the teaching team at Natya Vriksha.
