'Ibaadat' signifies absolute surrender and profound dedication to the Divine. In my understanding, it's the very purpose of our existence. We yield ourselves willingly to His divine design.
Engaging in such intimate communion with our Creator imparts spiritual sustenance to our souls. Neglecting this spiritual connection, however, leads to a sense of spiritual stagnation and profound inner emptiness.
To me, 'Ibaadat' entails a complete capitulation to the Divine, following all the guidelines and instructions He has provided us. These include the practice of virtuous deeds, the maintenance of an honorable character, and providing support to one another in all conceivable ways.
For me, my singing represents my own personal 'Ibaadat'. It's in these moments of musical expression that I submit myself to the Divine. Singing allows me to establish a profound connection with Him.
Vusat Iqbal Khan, a multi-faceted artist and entrepreneur, enriches her work with a wide-ranging experience as a Sufi Vocalist and proficiency in Media and Advertising. As the daughter of Ustad Iqbal Ahmed Khan, the Khalifa of Dilli Gharana, her legacy serves as a foundation for her pioneering work in musical dastangoi. Vusat has innovatively crafted a new style of dastangoi that blends the extensive repertoire of Dilli Gharana with the authenticity of traditional dastangoi in her narrative approach. Her unique musical dastangoi performances weave together ghazals, thumris, and the Gharana's exquisite bandishes, all narrated in refined Urdu. In addition to her artistic pursuits, Vusat also contributes to the education sector. She oversees the Ameer Khusro Institute of Music, where the Guru-Shishya Parampara style of teaching is used to impart knowledge of all forms of Indian Classical Music. She is also a co-founder of the Dilli Durbar, a music festival that celebrates the rich diversity of music.
