Guarding the Mind in a Restless Age

Artist’s Reflection

What do I protect fiercely in my life so that my creativity stays alive? I think it is peace. Peace of mind. Because that has become one of the most expensive things in today’s world.

We belong to a generation that has already witnessed so much, from governments falling and rising, to religious and communal outrage, and now so many non-humanitarian policies being imposed around us. In the middle of all this noise and unrest, I feel the most important thing I try to protect is my inner peace, though it is not easy.

And along with that, I fiercely protect a certain value system as a human being. Not values that come only from religion or belief systems, but values that are deeply human, compassion towards others, empathy, honesty, and sensitivity.

I protect both these things very dearly because they are what keep me sane, grounded, and truthful to myself. And perhaps that is what allows creativity to remain alive within me.
