I have always wanted to perform a set of ghazals that truly resonate with me, poetry that I have spent years listening to, studying, and learning. Nashist by Shivani Singh felt like the moment when all of that finally came together.
What led me to that stage was constant rehearsal, along with years of researching and learning the work of poets who have deeply influenced me: Mirza Ghalib, Faiz Ahmed Faiz, Ahmed Faraz, Shakeel Badayuni, Parveen Shakir, and Daagh Dehlvi, among others.
I believe every performance I had done before Nashist was preparing me for that exact moment: to stand on stage under my own name and perform a collection of ghazals that I genuinely love and connect with.
For me, Nashist was not just another performance. It was the culmination of years of learning, practice, and finding my own relationship with the poetry I wanted to sing.
