Initiated into the world of melody at the tender age of five, he underwent rigorous training guided by his father, Pt. Ravi Shankar Upadhyay, a Pakhawaj master. Rishi proudly carries a 400-year-old familial legacy, distinguished with the title of "Upadhyay," renowned for both Pakhawaj and Dhrupad singing. His talent radiates on stages worldwide, sharing performances with esteemed artists such as Pandit Bhajan Sopori, Pandit Vishwa Mohan Bhatt, Dr. Sonal Mansingh, Ustad Amjad Ali Khan, and the Gundecha Brothers. His accolades include the prestigious "Gold Medal" from the All India Radio Music Competition, an "A Grade Artist" from All India Radio and Doordarshan, and a Post Diploma from the National Institute of Kathak Kendra.
