In the classical dance space, one of the most persistent misunderstandings is how deeply demanding the journey truly is. Classical dance is not learned in months or even a few years; it is shaped over a lifetime. It requires years of disciplined training and, just as importantly, years of building sacred relationships with gurus and teachers whose lineages and legacies we carry forward through our bodies. There is also a misconception that classical dance is merely performance or movement. For many of us, it is not just dance at all. It is sadhana. It is an inward practice, a form of meditation, where discipline, devotion, and silence meet. What the audience sees on stage is only the surface of an inner journey that has been unfolding quietly for years.
